The Emanuel Synagogue

Featuring Marcia Haddad Ikonomopoulos,
Museum Director, Kehila Kedosha Janina
Lecture and dessert reception
Among the millions of immigrants that came to the shores of the United States from 1881-1924, was a small group of Greek speaking Jews, a true minority within a minority. Learn about this fascinating community-what life was like for them on New York’s Lower East Side and why, while hundreds of early synagogues closed their doors, Kehila Kedosha Janina, the synagogue they founded in 1927, is still open and functioning as a Jewish house of worship.
