A Present for our Members

The words and melodies that we use to pray connect us as a congregation and as a people.    Shabbat Morning at The Emanuel

Under the direction of our Membership Committee and with thanks to The Fierston Family, we have created a CD of our Shabbat morning melodies for our Emanuel family to listen to in their homes, cars and on iPods. It is our hope that these prayers will become like old friends with which we have pleasant, meaningful encounters in synagogue. An accompanying booklet tells about the meaning of each prayer and the body language used for each.

Be sure to pick up your copy of Shabbat Morning at The Emanuel at Rosh Hashanah services, Sunday morning, September 20. The CD was recorded by Hazzan Sanford Cohn accompanied by Allan Conway on keyboard The booklet was written by Judith T. Fox, Director of Education. Francene T. Weingast, Connections Coordinator, coordinated the project. (Please note that the keyboard is on the CD to represent congregational singing. See Judith’s note in the booklet for explanation.) Special thanks to Jeff Mills for his graphic and layout expertise.
