Job Club
A job club is a group of people who support each other during the job search process. It is usually led by a facilitator such as our own Cookie Melito, and can be structured with specific topics for discussion ie. interviewing techniques, resume writing etc. Additionally participants come to discuss success and frustrations with their personal job search and offer support and encouragement to each other. The frequency of the meetings and the topics discussed depends on the needs of the group.
We meet on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. in the small board room. We encourage and welcome new members.
Please contact Cookie Melito through the synagogue office at 236-1275 or email emansyn@emanuelsynagogue.org and mention job club in the subject line.

About Cookie Melito
Permit me to introduce myself. I am a new member of the Emanuel Synagogue with a background in career counseling, employment and training, and higher education. When I saw Rabbi Small’s inquiry in the Emanuel News as to whether any members of the congregation had career counseling skills I knew I could be of help.
My skills include resource development, counseling, marketing, job development and recruitment, case management and leadership. During the last 10 years of my career I served as a Program Coordinator in Business and Industry Services at Manchester Community College. I assisted in the development of training initiatives for businesses and government agencies and served as case manager for participants in a variety of programs. Prior to that, I was Training Manager under a government grant to retrain laid off workers from Pratt and Whitney and Hamilton Standard. I have worked with inner city students to help ensure their success in college as well as helped New Americans find gainful employment in their new country.
I look forward to applying my skills and experience to those in need of job search assistance.
