World Wide Wrap February 7, 2010
It was a beautiful day – over 120 people participated in the Wrap with 85 putting on Tefilin – including 6 women. This year our Brotherhood, Minyonaires, Bar/Bat Mitzvah Club and Religious School joined together for the Wrap. We changed our regular Sunday morning Minyan time to coincide with our Religious School starting time by moving the time of our usual Sunday morning services from 8am to 9:15am to encourage our school families to participate. From 9:00am to 9:15am we had Tefilin instruction and wrapping. Services went from 9:15am to 9:45am. Our Brotherhood and Minyonaires sponsored and prepared an incredible hot breakfast that included waffles, eggs in bread, lox and bagels, and pastries. Following breakfast at 10:30am the group went to Tefilin workshops as part of our family education program. Rabbi David Small talked about the spiritual dimension of wrapping Tefilin, Ritual Director Moshe Pinchover went over the how to wrap technique and showed everyone an opened set and Student Rabbi Josh Dorsch talked about the symbolism of everything. This was our best Wrap ever and next year we are planning for an even larger turnout.
