The Emanuel Synagogue B’Yadeynu Committee supports The Jewish Family Service Tara’s Closet initiative. Tara’s Closet provides clothing to seniors, adults and children living in the greater Hartford area during times of need. Donations to Tara’s Closet will fund mental health programs and services; embracing possibility through awareness and acceptance in our community.
The Emanuel synagogue is organizing to promote Tara’s closet project by donating and volunteering. If you are interested in giving of some of your valuable time and effort for this cause, please contact Gail Adler at gailadler@aol.com for more information and to start the process.
Clothing Donation Instructions: We thankfully accept lovingly worn clothing & outerwear for men, women, teens & children. We cannot accept undergarments, shoes, boots, socks, and swimwear. Clothing donation bags are available at JFS.
The next  dates Tara’s Closet is open are May 2, 3 and 4, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at Congregation B’nai Tikvoh-Sholom,  180 Still Rd, Bloomfield, CT 06002

Tara’s Closet is a newly launched Jewish Family Services program. The goals of Tara’s Closet include providing clothing to JFS clients in a confidential and dignified manner as well as raising funds to spread awareness about mental illness and the related help provided by JFS. Donations to Tara’s Closet will fund mental health programs and services.

ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES include: sorting, setting up the “boutique”, working the store to help clients, closing the boutique, transporting from Tikvoh to “Tara’s Closet “ store (at Community Services Building conference room for one week seasonally.) Volunteers may become involved in the FUNDRAISING to create awareness of JFS’s mental health counseling and support services for the community. They are also forming a committee to help select a topic, speaker(s), format, date, venue, etc. for a mental health conference.
