SUMMARY:Special Musical Selichot at The Emanuel: Open to All
DESCRIPTION:The Emanuel Synagogue is excited to bring vocalist Galeet Darda
 shti and her multi-sensory project “Monajat\,” for Selichot\, on Satur
 day\, Sept. 17\, 2022. Doors open at 8:00 pm\, program begins at 8:30 pm\,
  followed by a community wide Selichot service at 9:00 pm.&nbsp\;\n\nHaunt
 ing recordings of the Jewish prayers of Selichot chanted by Dardashti’s 
 Iranian grandfather Yona Dardashti\, a master singer of Persian classical 
 music\, inspire and waft through Dardashti’s presentation. She reinvents
  the musical ritual of Selichot using digital\ntechnology to perform with 
 an ensemble of Middle Eastern and jazz musicians. The ritual event envelop
 es audiences with Persian melodies\, poetic Hebrew texts\, electronic soun
 dscapes and video art. In conjunction with the live performance of“Monaj
 at\,” video artist and designer Dmitry Kemell generates images in real t
 ime that float across multiple screens.&nbsp\;\n\nBeth El Temple\, Bnai Ti
 kvoh Sholom and Beth David Synagogue are co-sponsors of this event.\n\nThe
