Emanuel Synagogue has a vibrant and active community of families with young children who are welcome at all synagogue activities and services. We also have a babysitting room and a parent/child Early Childhood Center play-space with games, a puppet theater, dress-up area, baby area, reading corner, etc. Our Early Childhood Center is open and available for children and parents together during all service times.

ChallahPalooza, in our Early Childhood Center, is an interactive service for children five and under and their grown ups. We sing songs, prayers, dance, read stories  and play shabbat friendly games. The program concludes with Adon Olam on the bima followed by kiddush with the entire Emanuel community. ChallahPalooza meets at 11:00am on Saturday mornings and on some holidays.  This program is free and open to all. Dates for 5777 (2016-2017) are 9/24 Sukkot 10/17, 11/19, 12/17, 1/28, 2/11, 3/4, 4/29, 5/13, 6/3.

Bagels, Blocks, and Beyond, held approximately five Sundays morning  a year, 10:30 – noon, is a theme based program for pre-school aged children and their parents. Through music, art, and stories, these programs teach about Jewish holidays and values such as Tzedakah, Shabbat, Passover, Hanukah etc . B, B and B is free and open to the community. In addition to all the activities happening in the synagogue, The Emanuel has an active social group called Young Families at Emanuel Synagogue. This lay led group comprised of both members and potential members, hosts social gatherings outside of the synagogue three to six times a year. Activities include Jewish programs like Shabbat dinner picnics and Hanukkah parties as well as non-religious activities that are purely social.
