Israel75 Celebrating Together at The Emanuel Synagogue April 23 - May 21 2023

Look what The Emanuel has planned in honor of Israel's 75th Jubilee! Join us for one or all events. Open to the community so be sure to invite your friends!

Sunday, April 23 - 9:30 am: Brotherhood Breakfast

Visit Israel! Guest speakers Mel and Ken Simon will talk about the Israel Bike Ride. Don Miller and Jeff Rudolph will present information about their upcoming group tour to Israel.

FREE and Open to all.
Registration needed for planning purposes.

Wednesday, April 26 - 5:30 pm: Israel Fest

Sample authentic Israeli food, visit our vendors, enjoy Israeli folk dancing, music, art and more!

  • $10 / person; ($30 immediate family cap)

Sunday, April 30: Bike Ride

Morning Ride, three distance options. Start location details and times listed below. Light lunch for all riders provided at the Mandell JCC of Greater Hartford, 335 Bloomfield Ave, West Hartford

Fee: $20* / rider, each ride; after April 26: $35

  • 9 am Ride — 75 km (50 mi) 
  • 10 am Ride — 36 km (25 mi)

Minimum age: 16 or 12 – 15 with parent/guardian for the above road rides. Both meet at the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford (JFGH) parking Lot, 333 Bloomfield Ave, West Hartford. 

  • 12 pm Ride — 7.5 km (5 mi) 

Minimum age: 13 or 8 -12 with parent/guardian for the 12 pm ride through the Emanuel neighborhood. Meet at The Emanuel Synagogue Parking Lot, 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford.  A great family ride for the young and young at heart.

All riders must have turned in a signed waiver in order to participate. Riders under age 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the waiver.

Kabbalat Shabbat services followed by Israeli BBQ style community Shabbat dinner.

Saturday, May 6 – 9:00 am: Shabbat Services

Rabbi Lazowski will call guest Gideon Weiss VP of RAFAEL Advanced Defense Systems of Israel and son of Holocaust survivors, to the bimah for a blessing ‘from one Holocaust survivor to the son of survivors’.  Israeli style Kiddush luncheon will follow.

Sunday, May 7 - 7:30 pm: Iron Dome - Defending Israel

Following 7:00 pm Minyan, Defense Expert Gideon Weiss will deliver the following presentation: Iron Dome – Defending Israel. A dessert reception will follow.

Sunday, May 21 - 7:00 pm: Joyful Noise!

Join us for Joyful Noise, A Cantors’ Cabaret featuring the Emanuel Synagogue’s Cantor Daniella Risman, Cantor Daniel Mendelson from Congregation Kol Ami, Cantor Matt Austerklein and Cantor Eliana Kissner; with Cantor Joseph Ness and the Beth El Temple Orchestra. The concert also includes a tribute to the late Cantor Sanford Cohn (z”l), and to the state of Israel. A dessert reception will follow.

  • $25 / Students & Children 17 and below
  • $125 / Immediate family cap (2 adults + children)
