On February 7, 2016 coinciding with Superbowl Sunday, The Emanuel Brotherhood, in conjunction with the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs, the Emanuel Ritual Committee, Rabbi Small, Hazzan Cohn, Moshe Pinchover and the Emanuel Religious School hosted our annual World Wide Wrap, a celebration of the mitzvah of wrapping t’fillin. David Bomzer and Eric Goldberg organized the event which included Emanuel members teaching other members how to observe the mitzvah of putting on t’fillin. Adults and Emanuel Middle School Students had a chance to put on tefillin together. Long-time “wrappers” were joined by first-timers. Men and women, young and old took part, including several first timers. David Silverman put on tefillin for the first time in his life at age 90+. Gilah Barker and Eric Goldberg explained the mitzvah to younger students in the Religious school After a group photo, Hazzan Cohn and Rabbi Small led participants and the entire Religious School in a student-friendly morning service and a scrumptious hot breakfast prepared by Brotherhood and helpers from Sisterhood and the Minyonnaires. In keeping with the theme of the day, breakfast “wraps” were served as well as waffles and t’fillin shaped desserts. Click one photo in the gallery to enlarge it, then scroll on through.
